The St. Petersburg Youth Council Summer Program Closing Ceremony
The St. Petersburg Youth Council is committed to instilling patriotic pride and responsibility in our kids. They go thru a summer program that is fun but not free. Before they go to Bush Gardens and Adventure Island, they have to feed the homeless and play games with the residents in a nursing home. These are just a few things that they do.
The Summer Program Closing Ceremony is our "Patriotic Salute to America" where we salute our men and women in uniform. The kids salute our American heroes by showing computer generated images of Iraq to the music of "Already There" by Lonestar.
A candlelight ceremony starting with the soundbites of those who lived and died on 9/11. Then the kids present a small American flag to all the men and women in uniform during Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" and then end the ceremony with bag pipes playing "Amazing Grace". The Color Guard from the American Legion will dismiss the colors.
The St. Petersburg Youth Council Summer Program Closing Ceremony is Wednesday night, 08/02/06 at 7 Pm at the St. Petersburg Little Theatre located at 4025 31 Street South.
If you are a current or retired member of the military, police officer or fire fighter, please arrive in uniform so that you can be honored.
